Question 1

How do I convert a WAV file to MP4?

Accepted Answer

Drag your WAV file onto the box above, or click Select file to choose it. Choose a picture, a shape and a background, or keep the ones chosen for you. Click Convert and wait for the progress bar to finish. Click Download to save the MP4 video.

Question 2

Do I need to add a picture to my WAV file?

Accepted Answer

No. A picture makes the video look better, though. WAV files can't carry cover art in their standard tags, and MakeAudio has no picture to use unless you add one. Click Select picture to add a JPG, PNG or WebP picture. Without a picture, the video shows the title and artist from the file's tags on a black or white background. If the file has no title, its file name is used.

Question 3

Will the sound quality change?

Accepted Answer

The sound in the video is AAC at 192 kbps, because video apps expect AAC sound in MP4 files. AAC is compressed, but the difference is very hard to hear in music and speech. Keep your WAV file if you need the original, uncompressed sound for editing.

Question 4

How big will the video be?

Accepted Answer

About 1.7 MB per minute. The WAV sound is converted to AAC at 192 kbps, which takes about 1.4 MB per minute. The picture doesn't move, and it adds only about 0.25 MB per minute of video. A 4-minute song makes an MP4 of about 7 MB. A 1-hour podcast makes an MP4 of about 100 MB. That is much smaller than the WAV file itself.

Question 5

Why isn't my file accepted?

Accepted Answer

This page accepts WAV files, whose names end in .wav. Check the end of your file's name. For other audio, use the matching page: MP3 to MP4, M4A to MP4, AAC to MP4, FLAC to MP4 or OGG to MP4. Audio to video accepts all of these formats.

Question 6

Can I make a video from only part of the WAV file?

Accepted Answer

This page uses the whole file. To use one part, cut it first with Trim WAV file, and then convert the shorter file here.
