Your MOV’s audio track is copied bit-for-bit into a new file with the video stream removed. Camera and iPhone audio survives exactly as recorded, and the result is a fraction of the original size.
Cameras often record high-quality PCM or AAC. A lossless copy preserves it perfectly; conversion can come later if needed.
