Question 1

How do I merge videos?

Accepted Answer

Drag your clips onto the box above, or click Select files to choose them. Drag the clips into the order you want. Click Merge videos and then Download.

Question 2

What if my clips have different sizes or shapes?

Accepted Answer

The merged video takes the size of the first clip. A clip with a different shape, such as a vertical phone video after a horizontal one, gets black bars at the sides or at the top and bottom, which means nothing is cut off.

Question 3

Will merging lower the quality?

Accepted Answer

Clips from the same camera with the same settings are joined as they are, which keeps the original quality and takes a second or two. Clips that differ in size, frame rate or format are re-encoded at a high bitrate.

Question 4

Can I merge MOV and MP4 files together?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can mix MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV clips. The merged video is saved as an MP4, which plays on almost every phone, computer and TV.

Question 5

How long does it take?

Accepted Answer

Clips with the same settings are joined in about a second. Clips that differ are re-encoded, and in our tests on a recent computer, that took about 8 seconds for each minute of 1080p video.

Question 6

Is there a limit on clips or length?

Accepted Answer

There's no limit on the number of clips. Very long videos need plenty of free memory, because the merged video is put together in your browser before you download it.

Question 7

Is it free, and is my video uploaded?

Accepted Answer

It's free, with no account needed, for up to 3 conversions a day across all MakeAudio tools. Only finished conversions count. Your video is never uploaded: it is processed on your own device.
