Question 1

How do I boost the bass in a song?

Accepted Answer

Drag your song onto the box above, or click Select file to choose it. Click Play preview to hear the stronger bass, and adjust the settings until it sounds right. Click Convert and then Download to save the new file.

Question 2

How much bass should I add?

Accepted Answer

Light (+4 dB) adds warmth without changing the character of the song. Medium (+8 dB) suits most music on headphones. Heavy (+12 dB) is for car stereos and large speakers.

Question 3

Which part of the sound is boosted?

Accepted Answer

The low end, below about 100 Hz, where kick drums and bass lines sit. Vocals and higher sounds are left as they are, apart from a small drop in overall volume.

Question 4

Will boosting the bass make the song distort?

Accepted Answer

MakeAudio lowers the overall volume by half the boost, which leaves room for the extra bass. A soft limiter then catches any peaks that are left, which stops loud songs from crackling.

Question 5

Will it make my phone speaker sound deeper?

Accepted Answer

Only a little. Phone speakers can't play deep bass well. The boost is most noticeable on headphones and larger speakers.
