Question 1

How do I turn an audio file into a video?

Accepted Answer

Drag your audio file onto the box above, or click Select file to choose it. Choose a picture, a shape and a background, or keep the ones chosen for you. Click Convert and wait for the progress bar to finish. Click Download to save the MP4 video.

Question 2

Do I need to add a picture?

Accepted Answer

No. If your file has cover art, MakeAudio uses it automatically. MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC and OGG files can carry cover art, while WAV files can't. You can always choose your own JPG, PNG or WebP picture instead. Without a picture, the video shows the title and artist from the file's tags on a black or white background. If the file has no title, its file name is used.

Question 3

Will the sound quality change?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the file. M4A and AAC sound is copied into the video exactly as it is. Other sound, such as MP3, WAV, FLAC or OGG, is converted to AAC at 192 kbps, which is what video apps expect. The difference is very hard to hear in music and speech.

Question 4

How big will the video be?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the file. Converted sound, such as MP3, WAV, FLAC or OGG, makes about 1.7 MB of video per minute. M4A and AAC sound is copied as it is, and the video is only a little bigger than the original file. The picture doesn't move, and it adds only about 0.25 MB per minute of video.

Question 5

Which audio files can I use?

Accepted Answer

This page accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC and OGG files, including Opus files that end in .opus. MakeAudio can't read some older formats, such as WMA and AMR.

Question 6

Can I make a video from only part of the sound?

Accepted Answer

This page uses the whole file. To use one part, cut the file first with Trim audio, and then convert the shorter file here.
